Since I was asked over on the quot;Friends amp; Family Salequot; thread, here are pictures of my recent acquisition. This is a cedar/mahogany Style 2. In regular Taylor terms, this is a souped up GC5. The slotted headstock is a nice touch:. The Slot Headstock was a 600 upgrade. Prior to my purchase, it was inspected, buffed and dialed in by Tim Luranc, who was the Head Luthier in charge of R.T. For the entire six years and 1200 or so guitars they built! Bob Taylor put him in charge on day one of RT. He was Taylor Guitar#39;s FIRST employee! Serious mojo. SPECS: Dreadnought body with 14-fret neck. Solid Lutz spruce top. Solid mahogany back and sides. There are 2 tricks to changing slotted headstocks which have made my life easier. 1. Pre-cut the string to length and crimp the headstock end at a 90 degree angle. I use the Taylor method for sizing the length of the string. This procedure reduces the need for your fingers to be in proximity to the pointy read that painful end of the string. 2. A slotted peghead differes from the standard both in having less mass and an increased break angle over the nut. OK, there#x27;s the easy part. How much tonal difference, if any at all, that is perceptible by the human ear is a different matter, altogether. I#x27;ve played T#x27;s slotted heads against their regular counterparts though none were quot;identical in specquot; and I seriously doubt there is any.
